A Voight violin discovered in Staffordshire was among a host of star lots in September’s sales.
It was brought to along to one of the regular free valuation events at Hansons’ Staffordshire saleroom, Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge, in August.
It had been in the family for a long time and the vendors had considered sending it to a charity shop.

The instrument was bought by a Midlands collector for a hammer price of £850.
