TV’s Kate Bliss is heading to Nottingham and Northamptonshire to uncover sparkling treasures.
The familiar face from TV’s Bargain Hunt will be at The Castle Tennis Club, Tennis Drive, Nottingham, NG7 1AE, on August 16, 10.30am-3pm, to offer free jewellery, silver and watch valuations – and no appointment is necessary.
She will also be at Jeyes of Earls Barton, 26-28 The Square, Earls Barton, Northamptonshire, NN6 0NA , on August 22, 10.30am-3.30pm.
If you like the guide price, items can be consigned into Hansons Auctioneers’ monthly sales. And if you have something other than jewellery you’d like to know more about, general antique valuations will also be on offer.
Kate, a fellow of the Gemmological Association specialising in jewellery covering antique and vintage items to contemporary pieces, said: “I hope I can put plenty of smiles on faces. It’s always exciting to discover the potential value of something you own. Often people have inherited objects that stay forgotten in drawers for years, or they simply want to part with something they no longer use.
“Gold, silver, jewellery and designer watches are achieving exceptional prices at auction. One of Hansons’ record-breaking finds was a watch bought for £300 in the 1970s from Woodwards Jewellers in Nottingham. It sold for more than £51,000. It turned out to be a rare Tudor Rolex steel Oysterdate watch.
“Items regularly surpass expectations at auction. An unwanted diamond ring recently made £5,000, well above its £3,500 top estimate, and a George V Dunhill silver novelty lighter clock, made in 1911, achieved £3,200 from a £300-£500 estimate.”
