One of TV’s best-known antiques experts is heading to Kent to hunt for antique treasures.
Charles Hanson, a regular on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, will be hosting free monthly valuation and consignment events in Royal Tunbridge Wells, starting this summer.
He will be at the newly-opened (Feb 2023) Hansons Royal Tunbridge Wells’ (HansonsRTW) office in The Pantiles Arcade, and the first event is planned for Friday, June 23, 11am-3pm.
Charles said: “I can’t wait to meet the people of Kent. I’m thrilled Hansons is now offering antique valuation events and auctions in Tunbridge Wells and I want to do everything I can to help people make the most of them. If anyone is curious to know the value of any items they have tucked away at home do pop down to see me. I might help pave the way to a windfall.
“Recently Robin Fletcher, the antiques expert leading our newly-launched Kent office, found a 400-year-old Charles I gold Unite coin dating back to circa 1625. It was discovered among around 200 old coins and bank notes during a house visit in Tunbridge Wells. The amazing find has been valued at £1,500-£2,000.

“It’s such a pleasure to tell people they own something historical, valuable – or both. Antiques hold a fascination for millions. Perhaps a Kent find could be the next Hansons’ discovery to make global news.”
Hansons can assess all types of antiques and collectables including ceramics, militaria and medals, coins and banknotes, books, toys, railwayana, jewellery, watches, silver and memorabilia relating to sport, music and films. If you like the guide price items can be consigned into auction immediately.
Charles Hanson will be at HansonsRTW, The Pantiles Arcade, 49 The Lower Pantiles, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN2 5TE, 11am-3pm, on the following dates:
June 23, July 21, August 18, September 15, October 13, November 10 and December 8.
HansonsRTW offers free valuations on Fridays and Saturdays, 10am-3pm. No appointment necessary.
The Charles I coin will be offered in Hansons Royal Tunbridge Wells inaugural auction on May 23. Auction entries invited.
