TV’s Bargain Hunt is filming at Hansons in March – and we’d love you to join us!

 |  By Kendal Cooper

TV’s Bargain Hunt film crew is coming to Hansons – and we’d love you to join us!

The popular programme makers will be at Hansons’ Etwall saleroom on March 15 – and Charles Hanson would love to see a big crowd to help put Derbyshire on the map.

The long-running BBC show, which launched 18 years ago and gets millions of viewers, will be filming lots bought by teams taking part in the show.

Charles, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said: “The atmosphere is always electric when the TV crew and celebrities from the antiques world are here.

“It’s exciting to see how a TV show is put together and, for fans of the programme, a novelty to know they might just end up appearing on television. Plus, the fun is free!

“We regularly welcome BBC’s Bargain Hunt at Hansons and, of course, I take part in the programme, either on the rostrum, or as a presenter helping the teams of two find items to go under the hammer.

The filming will take place on day two of Hansons’ March Antiques and Collectable Auction so the saleroom will be busy and packed with treasures. The March 15 auction starts at 10am and people are advised to arrive early, anytime form 9am, as the events are always popular.

Bargain Hunt has proved a sure-fire winner for the Beeb. On one occasion, a repeat aired at 12.15pm famously got more viewers – 1.7 million – than an episode of cult TV series Peaky Blinders, which drew 1.5 million viewers in a 9pm slot.

In the programme, two teams, the blues and the reds, are pitted against each other. They are given a budget of £300 each to seek out antique fair gems, with the help of an antiques expert, in a bid to make a profit at auction.
