TV antiques experts – including Charlie Ross and Kate Bliss – to host free valuation days in STAFFORDSHIRE

 |  By andy

Three of the UK’s best-known faces from TV antiques shows are taking part in two bumper free antiques valuation events in Staffordshire – and they want to see your lockdown treasures.

Bargain Hunt regulars Charles Hanson and Kate Bliss will be at Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge, on Saturday July 25, from 10am-5pm.

Then on Wednesday August 5, one of the UK’s most renowned auctioneers Charlie Ross, also a Bargain Hunt regular, will join Charles Hanson at the same venue to offer free valuations from 10am-5pm.

They hope people will bring along their lockdown discoveries – perhaps found in attics, drawers or under the bed – to potentially unleash an auction windfall. Anyone can join the fun and no appointment is necessary.

In addition, a VIP Talk and Tour of Bishton Hall will be available on August 5 providing an opportunity to hear Tales of The Two Charlies courtesy of Charlie Ross and Charles Hanson. To book a place, priced £10, contact Rachael Morley by emailing [email protected]

Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers and a regular on Antiques Road Trip as well as Bargain Hunt, said: “These will be exceptional events, the first of their kind at Bishton. Come and enjoy the fun at this wonderful period property, which is now Hansons’ country house auction and events venue.

“Covid-19 has had a massive impact on us all and continues to do so. However, thanks to the great outdoor space we have at Bishton together with its large open and airy rooms, we can host these events with all social distancing and hygiene rules respected.

“So, dig out any objects you think just might be worth something and join us on a voyage of discovery. We can assess anything and everything from the world of antiques and collectables and Kate Bliss will be on hand on July 25 to advise on silver, jewellery and watches.”

Kate Bliss said: “I have already come across some wonderful jewellery, watches and silver discovered during lockdown and prices are flying high at auction. This is a perfect opportunity to turn any unwanted items into cash.”

Hansons is keen for the public to enjoy Bishton Hall, a former private school it purchased in 2019. Rich in history, the site was first mentioned in the Domesday Book. The Grade II* listed property’s Temple Garden, which was restored by English Heritage, features a central Doric Screen which is regarded as one of the finest in the country.

Charles said: “I fell in love with Bishton’s old-world grandeur and very much want this important Staffordshire property to be open to the wider community.”

Enjoy the fun and book your VIP place
