Sheffield-bound! Charles Hanson to launch new FREE valuation event in city

 |  By andy

Charles Hanson, a popular face on TV antiques shows, is coming to Sheffield to launch a new event to help people ‘unleash a windfall’ – and raise money for a city charity.

Charles, who appears on BBC Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip and owns Hansons Auctioneers, will be at Sheffield’s Kenwood Hall on February 12, from 10am-2pm, and wants to see as many antique and collectable treasures as possible.

He said: “I’m looking forward to meeting the people of Sheffield, supporting a great city charity and seeing what people can unearth from their dusty drawers, attics, cupboards or even from under the bed.”

Valuations will be free but donations will be invited for St Luke’s Sheffield Hospice. The launch event will be the first of several monthly valuations which will be held at Kenwood Hall throughout the year.

Mr Hanson said: “We do our utmost to support charities and St Luke’s is a wonderful cause. I hope the people of Sheffield will come out in force to join us on the day, have some fun, help St Luke’s and, perhaps, unleash an auction windfall.

“My team of experts can value everything and anything. If you think you have something that just might be worth something, don’t be shy, bring it along.

“We regularly uncover wonderful objects at free valuation events that go on to make thousands of pounds for their owners. For example, last year a chipped Chinese plate purchased for £3 at a country house sale in the 1950s made £100,000 at auction.

“We’d love to see 20th century design, retro and vintage objects as well as antiques, jewellery, designer watches, silver, militaria, antiquarian books and more.

“We offer a host of specialist and standard auctions which can accommodate most things people wish to sell. If an object isn’t right for auction we’ll advise on the best options.

“If people are happy with their valuations, they can consign to auction there and then and we’ll do our very best to fill their pockets with cash.”

Megan Senior, community fundraising manager for St Luke’s, said: “We are grateful for the support of Hansons Auctioneers and their generous customers who donate at their popular valuation events. The money raised will help St Luke’s to continue providing specialist palliative care to the people of Sheffield.”

Charles Hanson and his team will be at Kenwood Hall, Kenwood Road, Sheffield, S7 1NQ, on Tuesday, February 12, 10am-2pm.
