Movie legend Sean Connery has unwittingly created the ultimate Scottish collector’s item thanks to his connection to a rare whisky coming to auction.
The former James Bond actor’s signature adds a dash of class to a decanter of Dew of Ben Nevis (Fort William) John McDonald’s 20 year old whisky. The limited Edition, 1/2000, offering, lot 499, has an estimate of £150-£200.
Edinburgh-born Connery (1930-2020) was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage so its pleasing to see his autograph on this whisky, a drink which has made his homeland famous throughout the world.
The Ben Nevis Distillery produces single malt which is bottled under the Ben Nevis name, while the spirit also contributes to the Dew of Ben Nevis blended Scotch. Around one-third of the distillery’s new-make spirit is exported to Japan, where it is a component of the popular Nikka Black blend.
