Ready for kick-off? Charles Hanson proud to host Sport Relief auction

 |  By andy

Hansons has teamed up with BBC Bargain Hunt to host an auction in aid of Sport Relief – and you can join the fun to support a great cause.

On Monday, December 9, Bargain Hunt will be filming a special auction as part of a charity episode for Sport Relief at Hansons’ London saleroom in Teddington. And you can help make sporting history by bidding on some exciting lots – including David Walliams Speedos and swimming cap!

Presenter Eric Knowles will be refereeing two teams of sporting celebrities as they compete against each other to buy the most profitable antiques. They’ll be battling it out to see who can make the most money for this great cause. The winners will be presented with the inaugural Bargain Hunt Sport Relief trophy.

On the red team is Olympic gold medal winner Tessa Sanderson who represented Great Britain in six consecutive Olympic Games. Her team mate is fellow Olympic athlete Iwan Thomas who won a silver medal in the 1996 Atlanta games.

Up against them in blue is a duo of sporting broadcasters. Manish Bhasin is best known for presenting Premier League football coverage, Match of the Day 2 and Football Focus and he’s paired with BBC Breakfast sport reporter John Watson. Regular Bargain Hunt experts Caroline Hawley and Danny Sebastian will be on hand to keep their teams in check.

Items bought by the celebrity teams at Newmarket antiques fair will be sold at Hansons London Auction Centre with antiques expert and auctioneer Charles Hanson on the rostrum.

You can bid live online for the teams’ items, as well as other exciting extra charity lots, including sporting goodies, tickets and exclusive experiences donated by TV celebrities, presenters and experts. Register now on the-saleroom.com website where you can see the full list of these one-off charity lots.

To take part in the auction, log in on Monday December 9 from 10am to bid live online as the auction happens. Winning bidders will be notified after the sale ends. All proceeds will go to Sport Relief, the charity which asks the British public to get active, raise money and change lives. The episode will be broadcast on BBC1 in March 2020.

To avoid disappointment, we recommend you register to participate in this auction no later than 4pm on December 8.
