A new tearoom has launched at Hansons Auctioneers’ Staffordshire saleroom, Bishton Hall, thanks to the determination of a brother and sister to honour their grandmother.
Staffordshire siblings Yasmine Morson-Mills, 20, and Harvey Morson-Mills, 17, have opened Mary’s Tea Room – named after their nan – in the old chapel at the Georgian mansion.
Yasmine said: “We began running a loose-leaf tea company, The Tea Bees, during lockdown in 2020 after the passing of our grandmother, Mary. She introduced us to traditional tea.
“We’ve opened the cafe on our tea journey and in memory of everything our grandmother loved – nature, positivity, a fine cup of tea and a good sponge cake. It seemed fitting to name the venue Mary’s.”
As well as a mouth-watering array of cakes, the cafe is the place to go for tea lovers. It offers more than 20 different types of 100% natural loose-leaf tea and locally-roasted ethical coffee beans.
Yasmine said: “Our delicious cakes cater for vegan and gluten-free diets and we’re looking to expand our offerings to include light savoury lunch and breakfast menu items in the near future as we evolve and grow.
“Our location at Bishton Hall is wonderful. It’s a relaxing place to visit at any time of year. Bishton is a beautiful historical property dating back to circa 1750 set in beautiful gardens. We hope the people of Staffordshire and beyond will pay us a visit soon and enjoy all we have to offer.”
Mary’s Tearoom is located at Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge, Staffs, ST17 0XN. It opens Tuesday-Thursday 9am-4pm; Friday and Saturday 9am-5pm; Sunday 10am-4pm. Closed Mondays.
