May 30 Bishton Wine, Whisky & Spirits Auction

Lot 242: A Historic Meeting of Icons – Macallan 10-Year-Old Signed by Baroness Thatcher

We are delighted to present an extraordinary highlight in our upcoming auction: Lot 242, a bottle of Macallan 10-year-old whisky, bottled in the 1990s. This isn’t just any bottle of whisky; it is a unique piece of history, intertwining the legacy of an iconic Scotch whisky with that of a towering figure in British politics, Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

This bottle, consigned by a woman from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, bears the signature of Baroness Thatcher. It was gifted to Mr Edward Hutchins, Master of Ceremonies at the Stafford & Stone Conservative Association’s Grand Autumn Dinner held on Friday, 15th September 1995. The event was an impressive affair, and this bottle stands as a testament to that memorable evening.

Macallan is revered worldwide as one of the most prestigious whisky distilleries. Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering quality, Macallan whiskies are celebrated for their rich flavour profiles and smooth Sherry finish. The 10-year-old Macallan from the 1990s is a classic example, in the distinctive white box featuring the Macallan estate house, Easter Elchies

Adding to the allure of this lot is the impeccable provenance. Included with the bottle are the original dinner menu from the event and a photograph capturing a moment between Mr Hutchins and Baroness Thatcher. These accompanying items not only authenticate the history of the bottle but also enhance its significance.

This unique item is not merely a bottle of whisky; it is a confluence of two icons—Macallan, an icon of Scotch whisky, and Baroness Thatcher, an icon of British politics. Such a remarkable piece is bound to attract significant interest, making it a prime candidate for any serious collector or enthusiast.

Join us at 2pm on 30th May 2024, for a chance to own this extraordinary piece of history. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bid on Lot 242, where Scotch whisky and British political heritage converge in a single, exceptional bottle.

Raise a glass to history—secure your piece of this unique legacy.
