ichfield Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival is all the brighter thanks to a tree decorated and sponsored by Hansons Auctioneers.
The firm, led by Charles Hanson, a familiar face on TV’s Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, snapped up the opportunity to support the event for the second year running.
The glittering festival, featuring 50 5ft Nordmann fir trees, is aiming to raise £3,000 for choristerships at the cathedral. Visitors can vote for their favourite tree and in January a presentation will be made to the winning trees, which have all been decorated by businesses, charities and schools.
Mr Hanson said: “We’re absolutely delighted to take part. We do everything we can to support good causes and charities all year round and it’s wonderful to back an event that helps make Lichfield sparkle even brighter. Do go along and enjoy the festive display.
“Our weekly valuation events at Lichfield’s Hedgehog Inn support charity, too. We value antiques, jewellery and collectables for free every Monday, but donations are invited for St Giles Hospice. It’s our way of giving something back to the many communities we work with.”
“After all, Lichfield people often help us to sparkle. On December 18 a stunning diamond ring brought along to the Hedgehog Inn went under the hammer at our Christmas Fine Art Jewellery Auction with an estimate of £9,000-£12,000. The Lichfield Gem, as we called it, was an Art Deco 2.50 carat diamond solitaire platinum ring.”
Hansons holds weekly valuation events at the Hedgehog Inn, Stafford Road, Lichfield, WS13 8JB, every Monday from 10.30am-12.30pm, apart from seasonal closures.
