KATE BLISS to host free jewellery valuation event in Derbyshire this June

 |  By andy

TV personality and jewellery expert Kate Bliss is heading to Derbyshire to help people unleash an auction windfall.

The familiar face from TV’s Bargain Hunt will be at Hansons Auctioneers, Heage Lane, Etwall, on Wednesday, June 16, 10am-4pm, to offer free jewellery, silver and watch valuations in the firm’s airy marquee. No appointments are necessary and Covid safety precautions are adhered to.

Kate, a fellow of the Gemmological Association specialising in jewellery covering antique and vintage items to contemporary pieces, said: “It will be brilliant to be back in Derbyshire. Lockdowns have kept me away but I miss meeting people. Everyone is always so friendly, and it’s so rewarding to uncover dazzling objects. I have made some wonderful discoveries in the county on previous visits and hope people will bring some interesting items for me to assess.

“If you have something special tucked away at home, perhaps found during a spring clean, and you’re looking to sell at auction, I’d be delighted to advise.Gold, silver and jewellery in general are achieving some exceptional prices at auction. It really is an excellent time to sell.”

“The top prices are being achieved for gold mean even broken gold jewellery can gain strong hammer prices. Hansons has also witnessed exceptional prices for gold coins in the last 12 months.

“Glamorous vintage and antique items sell well too. In Hansons’ May Fine Art Auction, an early 20th Century aquamarine and diamond-set pendant brooch, comprising a large aquamarine weighing 17.5 carats within a border of graduated diamonds sold for £5,000 – double its estimate.”

Kate Bliss, a consultant jewellery valuer, will be at Hansons, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire, DE65 6LS, on June 16, 10am-4pm.

Items can be entered into Hansons’ monthly jewellery, silver and Fine Art sales. To find out more, email: [email protected]
