Jewellery prices are flying high – and TV’s Kate Bliss can help you unleash a windfall at free Cheshire event

 |  By Kendal Cooper

TV personality and jewellery expert Kate Bliss is heading to Cheshire to help people unleash an auction windfall.

The familiar face from TV’s Bargain Hunt will be at St John’s Knutsford Church Centre, Church Hill, Knutsford, on Tuesday, June 14, 11am-3pm, to offer free jewellery, silver and watch valuations – and no appointment is necessary.

If you like the estimate, your items can be immediately consigned into Hansons Auctioneers’ monthly sales. In addition, doll and teddy bears valuer Janet Rawnsley will be on hand to assess any toys you are considering selling at auction.

Moonstone silver necklace sold for £520.

Kate, a fellow of the Gemmological Association specialising in jewellery covering antique and vintage items to contemporary pieces, said: “I can’t wait to come to Cheshire. If you have something special tucked away at home, perhaps found during a spring clean, and you’re looking to sell at auction, I’d be delighted to advise.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, Ref. 116523, estimate £6,000-£8,000. Sold for £13,000

“Gold, silver, jewellery and designer watches are achieving some exceptional prices – even broken jewellery sells well.  Why not release the potential of items you no longer need and gain a welcome windfall? Hansons Auctioneers has thousands of online bidders all over the world and your gem might be just what they’re looking for.”

In Hansons’ April sales lot 391, a collection of costume and 9ct gold jewellery made £660, an aquamarine, diamond and sapphire ring made £900, a moonstone necklace achieved £520 and single gold sovereigns achieved £400 each. Silver is sought after, too. A collection of 19th century silver cutlery was contested to £1,000 and two George II silver candlesticks made £510.
