Incredible donations are flooding in from both the general public and celebrities for a charity auction to raise money for the NHS.
Charles Hanson plans to broadcast the online-only sale in lockdown from his garden shed in Derbyshire on Friday, April 3 at 7pm. He will be auctioning off a host of items including his own gavel. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Fantastic donations have been coming in almost hourly. We have been overwhelmed by the response.
It’s all to raise money for Derby and Burton Hospitals Covid-19 Appeal to buy items to aid both staff and patients. The cash will buy anything from protective clothing and thermometers to tea and biscuits to give health care workers on the frontline a well-earned break.
When is the auction taking place?
The Golden Gavel NHS Charity Auction will take place on Friday, April 3 at 7pm. It is an online-only auction It will be broadcast live through Hansons’ online bidding platform – www.hansonslive.co.uk.
How can I bid on a lot?
The catalogue is LIVE and you can bid now. All you need to do is register with Hansonslive – it’s quick and easy. To do so please, CLICK HERE. It’s completely free. You can bid on lots in advance of the sale and also take part in the live auction on Friday, April 3. All normal buyer fees will be waived.

What happens if I win an NHS Auction lot?
Winning bidders will be contacted by email after the action to
arrange payments and deliveries. Where possible, lots will be posted direct
from the individual/organisation which donated the item. If the lot is a pledge of a holiday/trip/day out/celebrity experience, Hansons will send a confirmation
email to the winning bidder and organisation/individual. Both parties can then
liaise to arrange use/collection/delivery of their lot.

How do I pay for an auction lot?
Winning bidders can pay for their lot by transferring the hammer price total into the following Natwest bank account, referencing ‘NHS’:

If people don’t want to bid but would like to donate to the charity auction, they can transfer money, no matter how small, to the above bank account marked ‘NHS DONATION’ and it will be included in the final total.
