Hansons comes to Notting Hill! New office and new valuation days with Kate Bliss and Adam Schoon

 |  By andy

Two familiar faces from TV antiques shows – Kate Bliss and Adam Schoon – will hold regular free valuation days in Notting Hill from September.

Jewellery expert Kate and Adam, who specialises in Chinese, Himalayan, and Japanese works of art, will be on hand to advise at Hansons London new office in Jameson Street, which is poised to open soon.

Hansons London owner Charles Hanson said: “I’m delighted to bring Hansons to Notting Hill and hope, like the famous Hugh Grant film named after the area, we can bring romance and passion to Notting Hill – but this time from the auction world.”

Hansons London opened its first office in Bridge Road, Hampton Court Village, in January, 2018, and holds monthly auctions at the Normansfield Theatre, Teddington.

“We’ve had a fantastic welcome since expanding to London,” said Mr Hanson, who launched his first auction house in Derbyshire in 2005 and is a familiar face on TV shows such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip.

Kate Bliss is also a regular on Bargain Hunt and Adam Schoon has appeared as a specialist on BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow since 1999. He has been a member of The Oriental Ceramic Society of London for more than 25 years.

“Both Kate and Adam have decades of experience in their specialist fields and I hope the people of Notting Hill will grasp this opportunity to have their treasures valued with them and consign to auction with us,” said Mr Hanson.

Chris Kirkham, associate director of Hansons London, said: “We have had some amazing finds in London already including two Faberge flowers which sold for a more than £420,000. We’ve also grabbed the headlines with film-related finds, such as a pair of chairs from a Harry Potter movie which made £5,800.”

Kate Bliss will be at 28 Jameson Street, Notting Hill, W8 7SH, on September 18, October 16 and November 20, 9.30am-2pm but the office will remain open until 4pm for jewellery and general valuations. Adam Schoon will be at the same venue on September 11, October 9 and November 13, 10am-4pm.

Kate specialises in valuing silver and watches as well as jewellery and Adam, though an expert in Oriental art, will be happy to advise on general antiques. Hansons London sells all types of objects and can also arrange private home visit valuations.

“Dig out your treasures and come and see our experts in Notting Hill,” said Mr Hanson. “We are currently inviting entries for our October auctions.”
