Hansons Auctioneers Unveils Star-Studded Music Memorabilia Sale

 |  By Kirsty Myatt

Collectors and music lovers are in for a treat as Hansons Auctioneers prepares for its much-anticipated Derby July Music Memorabilia & Film Auction on 2nd July at 10am. Following a series of strong past results, interest in rare vinyl, concert posters, and iconic band ephemera is at an all-time high — driven by a robust UK and global collectables market that continues to grow into 2025.

In recent years, Hansons has achieved standout prices for some truly special pieces. At a sale at the end of 2024, a collection of Pink Floyd records — including a coveted first pressing of Dark Side of the Moon with its iconic sold blue triangle — achieved a hammer price of £560, exceeding its estimate of £350–£450. Other albums in the set included Animals, Wish You Were Here, and Ummagumma, all in superb condition.

And in March 2025, Hansons sold a star lot featuring autographs from John Lennon and Paul McCartney, obtained at a 1963 Bournemouth concert. Estimated at £600–£700, these signatures achieved a hammer price of £1,250 — further proof of continued strong demand for Beatles memorabilia.

With interest spanning from the 1960s to the present day, Hansons expects strong international attention for its July sale.

Highlights from the Upcoming Auction

  • Lot 6 – A rare 1968 Apple Records Watch, designed by Richard Loftus for Accurist. Only 200–300 were produced and sold at the Beatles’ Apple boutique or given to Apple Records staff. This working example is estimated at £500–£700. View here
  • Lot 30 – A U2 BBC Transcription Services Vinyl LP featuring live tracks like Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year’s Day, and Gloria — estimated at £40–£60. View here
