Furniture, silver, ceramics and art excelled in the first sales of 2023 at Hansons’ Staffordshire saleroom Bishton Hall.

These sales are fascinating as there are always gems to discover amid a multitude of lots, plus bargains for savvy bidders. It was great to see Windsor chairs achieving good prices once again. Bidding was buoyant and all eyes will be on the next Attic Auction on February 25.

What a great start to the year at Bishton! Plenty of items sold above estimate with lots of interest focused on numerous lots. The Aynsley porcelain tea-set (below) made four-figures from a £300-£400 estimate.
