Wine, Whisky, and Spirits enthusiasts were drawn to an exceptional selection of 305 lots in Hansons Auctioneers’ July 2023 specialist sale.
Connoisseurs and collectors from around the globe witnessed the unveiling of a treasure trove comprising a diverse array of Champagne, Wine, Armagnac, Cognac, Whisky, and other Spirits.
With bottles spanning several decades, from the 1950s to the 1990s, this auction was a vintage extravaganza like no other. The oldest gem to grace the auction was a legendary bottle of 1843 Paul Court Rum, a true relic of the past which achieved £3,100.
Not only did the auction boast an exceptional range of vintages, but it also showcased a fascinating variety of bottle sizes. From delicate 5cl miniatures to grand Magnums, and even a majestic Jeroboam, the selection catered to every collector’s preference. A standout among the impressive array was a colossal 4.5 litre Vodka
The auction commenced with a marvellous ensemble of red wine, highlighted by the illustrious Château Brane Cantenac 1995 Margaux. The 12 bottles of Bordeaux excellence garnered fervent bidding, exemplifying the appreciation for rare and well-preserved wines.

Sailing through the rich maritime history of spirits, our auction featured the remarkable Four Bells Navy Rum from the 1970’s. This 26 2/3 Fl Oz bottle at 75 Proof evoked nostalgia for the golden age of naval heritage and stirred passions among collectors seeking liquid treasures.
Stepping into the rarified realm of antiquity, the highlight of the auction was the extraordinary 1843 Paul Court Rhum. This timeless masterpiece, aged to perfection, exuded the essence of a bygone era, enticing enthusiasts to delve deeper into the world of aged spirits.

The auction’s whisky selection was nothing short of extraordinary, with a magnificent lineup that included the prestigious Glenfiddich 30 Year Old Pre-2014 edition and the scarce Rosebank 1981 Rare Malts 22 Year Old, bottled at a bold 61.1%. Whisky aficionados eagerly competed for these coveted gems, recognising their true significance in the realm of collectible spirits.
A journey through marque scotch whisky wouldn’t be complete without the revered Macallan 1967 – 18 Year Old. The complexity and elegance of this fine whisky resonated with discerning palates and garnered tremendous interest from connoisseurs and investors alike.
