Don’t miss FREE toy valuations at National Trust Museum of Childhood

 |  By andy

Toy nostalgia is set to come to the fore at a special antiques valuation event at Sudbury’s National Trust Museum of Childhood.

The famous toy museum is welcoming along toy valuer David Wilson-Turner from Derbyshire’s Hansons Auctioneers on September 7, from 1-4pm.

David will be on hand to offer toy valuations and, if you like what you hear, you can enter items for Hansons’ Toys, Models and Live Steam auction on November 20. Valuations are free but people are welcome to give a donation to the National Trust property.

David said: “I can’t think of a better place to do toy valuations – the home of toy history. Toys are hugely nostalgic for many people and there is a buoyant market for collectors.

“Vintage Corgi, Matchbox and tin plate vehicles, quality teddy bears such as Steiff and Victorian dolls are desirable. Model trains also sell well. Added value comes if people have original boxes or the toys are unopened.

“In an auction earlier this, 60 vintage Star War toys made by Palitoy, unopened and in their original packaging, more than trebled their original estimate of £2,000-£3,000 to sell for £9,240.

“Another great find was a beautiful set of Steiff Skittles dating back to 1907. They were taken along to Hansons’ weekly free valuation event at Ashbourne’s Fairways Garden Centre and sold for £2,000.

“You might just be sitting on treasures, so have a good look round your home, enjoy a visit to this wonderful National Trust property and drop by to see me.”

David Wilson-Turner will be doing free valuations on September 7, 1-4pm, in the Stableyard, Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood, Main Road, Sudbury, Ashbourne, DE6 5HT. Entries are invited for Hansons’ November 20 toy auction until October 26.To find out more about toy valuations, email [email protected]. or call 01283 733988.
