Unleash a windfall this spring by taking advantage of a free antiques valuation service in Bedfordshire.
Antiques experts are on hand at The Woburn Hotel, George Street, Woburn, to assess your treasures every Wednesday thanks to a new service benefiting the people of the county and beyond.
Sparkling finds are already coming in including a stunning carved amethyst, exhibiting the knocks of life over 100 years, studded with fiery old mine cut diamonds.

Hansons Auctioneers, led by TV personality Charles Hanson, has launched Hanson Ross, an antique valuation and consignment service operating across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
New valuation events will bring together teams of experts able to assess jewellery, silver, watches, general antiques, collectables and vintage toys – and no appointment is necessary. In addition to Woburn’s weekly offering, free monthly valuations will launch in Hitchin on March 21 and Bedford on March 28.

Charles, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said: “We want to offer an exceptional service to the people of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, inspired by all that was achieved previously by Charles Ross Auctioneers, which Hansons acquired in 2020.
“The firm, built by renowned auctioneer Charles Ross over many years at Woburn Town Hall, generated a strong, loyal client base, something we noticed when Hansons acquired Holloway’s Auctioneers in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

“Work has continually come into our Oxfordshire auction centre from the Woburn area, which is only 40 miles away. I’m delighted to offer the people of Bedfordshire a friendly, local service again.
“Thanks to the valuation events, items can be consigned into sale and offered in monthly auctions at the Banbury saleroom, which relaunched as Hanson Holloway’s Ross in 2020.
“The Oxfordshire sales have grown progressively bigger and, thanks to this new initiative, they’re destined for further success. As consignments grow, we hope in time to open a Woburn saleroom again.“

Hanson Ross valuation events, home visits, house clearance and probate/insurance services will be led by Hanson Ross’s Director of Operations Amanda Butler. She said: “We aim to provide a first-class jewellery, fine art and antiques valuation and consignment service. We will focus strongly on jewellery, silver, watches and toys as these collectors’ markets are witnessing huge growth.”
Charles said: “As Amanda is based in Milton Keynes it seemed a natural progression for Hansons to launch this service. It is a part of the country I am very familiar with. I’ve supported good causes in the area including the Milton Keynes Hospital charity and Keech Hospice Care. Hansons seeks to support charities whenever possible, often through the sale of donated items.
“I hope people will take advantage of everything Hanson Ross has to offer and enjoy the convenience of our free valuation events. Dig out any objects gathering dust at home that you think may be of value and pave the way to a potential auction windfall.”

Hansons experts are at The Woburn Hotel, 1 George St, Woburn, Milton Keynes, MK17 9PX, every Wednesday, 10am-1pm.
In addition, jewellery and general antique valuations will be offered at Stonegate Estates, Hermitage Road, Hitchin, SG5 1BY, on March 21 and April 18, and at Beard Estate Agents, Provincial House, 3 Goldington Road, Bedford, MK40 3JY, on March 28 and April 25.
