Fine Art & Paintings

Fine art plays a bold, colourful and creative role in the antiques world. It brings to auction all manner of fascinating pieces that are judged on their beauty and place in history.

Hansons Auctioneers values and sells a rich array of paintings and prints. We see examples of art through the centuries. This rich blend encompasses everything from classic painting techniques and portraiture to JS Lowry prints and modern art. For example, four paintings by Canadian folk artist Maud Kathleen Lewis (1903-1970) collectively sold for more than £36,000 at Hansons.

Fine Art’s Eclectic Mix

As well as a rich array of Fine Art paintings and prints, this specialist section includes an extensive mixture of objects. These include everything from sculpture, metal wares and miniatures through to tea caddies, architectural pieces and everything in between.

Over the years, Hansons has handled some impressive and unusual Fine Art pieces. For example, a Walenty Pytel model of a large textured unicorn sold for £1,250.
