Need some sparkle in your life? A glittering array of Art Nouveau-inspired jewellery set for auction in Derbyshire might make your heart flutter with excitement.
That will certainly be true if you like butterflies. A particularly striking piece is a silver Art Nouveau-style butterfly brooch/pendant glistening with diamonds, emeralds and rubies, estimate £1,200-£1,500.
It’s among the stars in the April 30 Derbyshire Auction of Sparkles. It offers a rainbow of gemstones adorning rings, bracelets, necklaces and brooches.
You could also turn heads with an eye-catching tourmaline and diamond 18ct rose gold pendant, estimate £3,350-£4,000, or an opal, coloured sapphire and diamond-set silver dress ring, £680-£700. Some 45 items are on offer with estimates starting at £450.
Jewellery is always in demand at auction as salerooms provide ideal hunting grounds for antique and vintage finds. Jewellery fans also use auctions to swap and change items in an eco-friendly way.
The Derbyshire Auction of Sparkles begins at 3pm on April 30. Lots can be previewed, by appointment on the day from 2-3pm at Hansons Auctioneers’ Etwall saleroom. Alternatively, view the catalogue and bid online at www.hansonslive.co.uk.
