If medals or military memorabilia are gathering dust at home a free event could unleash a new year windfall.
On Wednesday, January 18, from 10am-1pm, militaria specialist Nick Thompson will host a valuation and consignment event at Hansons’ Staffordshire saleroom Bishton Hall.
He has joined the friendly valuation team at the Wolseley Bridge auction centre and is keen to uncover finds which could soar to success at auction.

Bidders worldwide are keen to add to their collections and militaria can sell for thousands of pounds. With a cost-of-living crisis and sky-high energy bills to contend with, parting with unwanted items is a perfect way to beat the January blues.”
Nick, a former police detective and medal business owner, has developed a strong interest in war history over many years and is keen to share his expertise with clients.
Nick, a member of the Orders and Medals Research Society, said: “I have worked as a militaria consultant in the auction industry since 2014. I enjoy using my knowledge to provide vendors with accurate valuations. I also endeavour to explain all the processes involved in consigning items and, in many cases, collections into auction.
“I specialise in First and Second World War memorabilia and have a special interest in The Battle of the Somme in 1916, German militaria and WW2 badges.
“Being a collector myself, I understand how important items are to vendors. Clients who consign with me can rest assured their historical treasures will be well cared for as we prepare to pass them on to the next custodian.
