Charles Hanson to do FREE valuations in NOTTINGHAMSHIRE on February 28

 |  By andy

TV antiques expert Charles Hanson is heading to Nottinghamshire to uncover treasures at a free antiques valuation event.

Charles, a familiar face on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip and owner of Hansons Auctioneers, will be at Trowell Garden Centre, Stapleford Road, on Thursday, February 28, from 11am-2pm.

Mr Hanson said: “This is a wonderful venue and it’s our first trip back there this year, so I want to be there. I’m looking forward to valuing all types of antiques and collectables including jewellery, silver and watches.

“Thanks to the mild weather, spring cleaning is well under way, so look in those attics, check under the bed and delve into your drawers to see what you can find. Dazzle me with your finds!

“It’s only February but we’ve already made some impressive discoveries this year. For example, a cameo ring we spotted in a box of costume jewellery destined to be scrapped turned out to be 18ct gold and sold for £1,100 from an estimate of £100.

“In the same box of jewellery, destined to be sold for scrap or given away, was a Murrle Bennett & Co Arts and Crafts silver and opal ring which sold for £220 in our February 20th Century Design Auction from an estimate of £60-£100.

“We’re also witnessing strong gold prices this year. Prices are rising as there is concern the US economy may tumble back into recession. In our February auctions, a 9ct gold charm bracelet with 16 charms sold for £1,160.

“It’s always a pleasure to help people discover the true value of items and set them on the road to a windfall. Don’t be shy – I’m happy to assess everything and anything.”

If people are happy with guide prices, items can be entered into a future Hansons’ auction on the day.

Charles Hanson will be at Trowell Garden Centre, Stapleford Road, Trowell, NG9 3TG, on February 28, 11am-2pm, and monthly free valuation events will be held at the venue throughout the year. For a full list of dates, visit www.hansonsauctioneers.co.uk.
