Potterheads have a unique opportunity to buy memorabilia linked to the boy wizard’s first film – and the house where he famously slept in a cupboard under the stairs.
Items gathered during the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2000 at 12 Picket Close in Berkshire, the property used as 4 Privet Drive, Harry’s house, are set for auction.

They were amassed by the owner of the property at the time and include copies of letters from Warner Bros asking to use the house as a location and thanking the vendor for allowing the crew to shoot scenes.
The lot includes a Philosopher’s Stone paperback first edition, 48th printing, Bloomsbury, 1997, signed by Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter in the film, Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley), and Chris Columbus, the film’s director. Also included is a Bloomsbury bookplate signed by JK Rowling.

In addition, the lucky bidder will obtain a small archive of photos taken during filming at the house. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was released in cinemas in 2001. It became a critical and commercial success, grossing $974 million at the box office worldwide during its initial run, and over $1 billion with subsequent re-releases. The memorabilia, lot 361, will be offered in Hansons’ July 7 Library Auction, estimate £2,000-£4,000.
