If you love history, beautiful objects, fascinating antiques and all things quirky and original then our Summer Jewellery, Fine Art, Gentleman’s Library, Luxury Handbags and Objects of Desire Auction is a must – and you can be the first to see its treasures this weekend, writes Charles Hanson.

On Sunday, June 24, from 2-4pm, Hansons will be opening its saleroom in Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire, for Fine Art Viewing. All are welcome, parking is free and we’re easy to find. You can explore more than 1,300 wonderful objects and, just for fun, I will be hiding my gavel in the saleroom. Whoever finds it will win a prize.

According to Fine Art expert and Hansons Auctioneers’ associate director Adrian Rathbone, it is one of the best Fine Art catalogues he has ever seen. To whet your appetite, you can view our page-turner catalogue by clicking HERE.

See glittering jewellery, designer watches, collectable clocks, connoisseur ceramics, fine furniture, ornaments, antiquarian books, rare and original posters and more. Plus, included in the dazzling array of items are the contents of Hallfield Hall and Measham House Farm.

Fine Art Jewellery & Watches Showcase Invitation

Don’t miss a free opportunity to explore stunning lots in our Jewellery and Watches Showcase Auction as well as our Antiquity Rings Auction on June 28. Drinks and canapes will be served from 5pm with head of jewellery Helen Smith on hand to advise alongside Adrian Rathbone.

The Antiquity Rings Auction provides a unique opportunity to browse and buy around 50 ancient rings – Greek, Roman, Byzantine and medieval. These are the types of rings you may only have seen before in the pages of history books. It is one of the best collections of ancient rings ever seen outside a museum.

In addition, you can view our Fine Art Auction in advance on June 26, noon-4pm; June 27, 11am-7pm; June 28, 11am-6.30pm; June 29, 30 and July 2, 9am-10.30am and July 3, 11am to 6.30pm.

Our Summer Fine Arts auction will get under way on Thursday, June 28 with the sale of Antiquity Rings at 5.30pm (Lots 1 to 49). Then at 6.30pm on the same evening our Jewellery and Watches Showcase Auction (Lots 50 to 158) will get under way followed by Gold Coins (Lots 159 to 166) and Fine Watches (Lots 167 to 232).

On Friday June, from 10.30am, silver (Lots 233 to 369); Glass (Lots 370 to 386); European Ceramics (Lots 387 to 457); Connoisseur Ceramics (Lots 458 to 581); Asian Ceramics (Lots 582 to 602); Asian Works of Art (Lots 603 to 657) and European Works of Art (Lots 658 to 754) will be sold.

On Saturday June 30, from 10.30am you can bid on Paintings & Derbyshire Art (Lots 755 to 872); Vehicles (Lots 873 to 875); Clocks (Lots 876 to 897) and Furniture (Lots 898 to 983).

That will be followed on Monday, July 2, 10.30am, with the Library Auction, Books, Maps & Prints (Lots 1020 to 1238) and on Tuesday, July 3, from 6.30pm, with our Luxury Handbags & Objects of Desire Auction.
