Hansons’ Spring Fine Art Auction viewing is under way and there are thousands of treasures to see in advance of the major sale – with preview events running on April 1-2 and all auction days.
Jewellery, watches coins, silver, art, ceramics, textiles, a vast and unique button collection, clocks, paintings and a library sale can be browsed in advance of the April 3-11 auction.
Both viewing and the auction itself are being held at Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge, Staffordshire.
Among items on display will be a dazzling 8.5 carat diamond ring – the biggest diamond Hansons Auctioneers has ever consigned. Is it among more than 400 shimmering lots in the Fine Art Jewellery, Gold and Watches Auction which takes place on April 3.

Helen Smith, head of jewellery at Hansons, said: “The 8.5 carat diamond ring is extra special because diamonds as large as that are very hard to come by now. It has an estimate of £30,000-£50,000.
“Other fabulous items include lot 92, an opal cameo set brooch, circa 1890s, which is attributed to Wilhelm Schmidt, a famous German opal carver who lived from 1845-1938. It has an estimate of £2,500-£3,000.

In addition, the April 5 sale will include a collection of more than 12,000 antiques buttons gathered over 20 years by a devoted collector.
There is also a vast array of books and works on paper to browse in the April 11 Library Auction including a huge collection of The Compleat Angler books.
