About the Auction

Hansons Auctioneers are proud to have been entrusted with the sale of the world-famous Teapot Island Collection.

Housed at Teapot Island Museum in Yalding, Kent, this remarkable collection numbers more than 8,000 teapots, spanning from the late 18th century to the present day. It encompasses everything from everyday designs to extraordinary novelty examples, making it one of the most comprehensive collections of its kind.

The collection was begun in 1983, when Sue Blazye received a teapot from her grandmother. Over the next 42 years, Sue built the collection with passion and dedication, before moving it in 2003 to its current museum home. Since then, it has welcomed visitors from across the globe.

In 2004, the collection earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest teapot collection in the world, a title it held until 2011. A decade later, in 2014, it received royal recognition when King Charles III and Queen Camilla toured the museum. Queen Camilla was so charmed that she purchased a teapot from the gift shop.

Now, for the first time, this unique collection of more than 8,000 teapots is being offered for sale in its entirety, as one lot, in a timed auction. This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire a collection of international renown.
