Antique treasure hunt starts in Leicestershire in January 2024

 |  By Kendal Cooper

Antiques experts are heading to Leicestershire in a bid to uncover fascinating finds to help people unleash a windfall.

Free valuation events will launch in January and people are urged to dig out their antiques, collectables, jewellery or vintage watches to turn unwanted treasures into cash.

Valuers from Hansons Auctioneers will be at the Grange Hotel,  88 Wood Lane, Quorn, on January 18 from 10am-1pm. They can assess anything and everything from ceramics, toys and militaria to silver, jewellery and gold – and no appointment is necessary.

If the valuation is music to your ears, items can be consigned into Hansons’ broad range of general and specialist sales. They include music and sports memorabilia, historica, stamps, toys, decorative arts, jewellery, ceramics and more.

Hansons said: “Leicestershire discoveries often excel under the hammer. For example, a humble 1920 Christmas tree found near Loughborough achieved a total of £3,411 (hammer £2,600) in December 2023, smashing its £60-£80 estimate.

“Auction sales are booming and results can surprise and delight. Thanks to thousands of registered online bidders, your treasures will be seen by a huge number of potential buyers all over the world.  It’s an easy way to turn any unwanted items into cash and, importantly, to check if you own something of value.”

Hansons will be offering free antique valuations at the Grange Hotel, 88 Wood Lane, Quorn, Leicestershire, LE12 8DB on January 18, February 19 and March 18, 10am-1pm. For further dates, visit www.hansonsauctioneers.co.uk. To find out more, or to book a home visit to assess large collections, please email: [email protected] or call 01283 733988.
