It is hoped a lifetime collection of signed football shirts will raise enough money for its dying owner to take his children to Disney World.
Father-of-three Chris Capstick, 41, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2023, has two final wishes.
The first is for England to win the World Cup, and the second is for the sale of his lifetime collection of signed football shirts to fund a family trip to Florida.
After treatment, he was declared disease-free, but the cancer returned eight months ago, with doctors giving him a life expectancy of between 10 months and a year.
Chris, who lives on the Wirral, said: “I had six tumours on the brain and now there is one. I am fighting it all the way.”
Now he is putting his lifetime collection of 57 signed football shirts, along with some boots, up for sale at Hansons Auctioneers on June 22, where they are expected to make £7,000.
Money raised will fund a trip of a lifetime to Disney World with wife Lauren and their three daughters: Mila, 10, Isabella, six, and two-year-old Nylah.
The shirts are signed by some of the biggest names in football, including David Beckham, Pelé and Erling Haaland.
Chris said: “I started collecting football shirts when I was 19 or 20. I am a massive Liverpool fan. When I saw a shirt I wanted, I just went for it.”
Chris, who works for the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “The shirts are currently in the loft. My wife Lauren has been on at me to get rid of them, so now I have decided to do so and take the girls to Disney World on a trip that would mean the world to them.”
Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said: “People sell prized possessions for all sorts of reasons, but there could be no better reason than why Chris is selling his beloved collection.
“We wish him and his family all the best and hope this sale can make at least one of their dreams come true.”
As a dedicated Liverpool fan, the collection is particularly strong on players from the Reds, with shirts signed by Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Stan Collymore and John Barnes each expected to make £70-£120.
