FREE jewellery valuations with TV’s Kate Bliss on August 2

 |  By andy

If you’ve ever wondered if that antique ring or necklace, piece of silver or designer watch could be of value, now’s the time to find out if you’re sitting on a summer windfall.

Right now, jewellery is soaring to success at auction and one woman with a wealth of knowledge on the subject is coming to an auction house near you next week. (Aug 2)

TV personality Kate Bliss will be offering free valuations of jewellery, watches and silver at Hansons Auctioneers, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire, on Thursday, August 2, from 10am-4pm. No appointment needed.

Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said: “Kate, a familiar face on TV programmes like Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, has uncovered treasures over the years which have gone on to make hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds at auction.

“Recently, we uncovered a fabulous Russian necklace, circa 1900, awash with diamonds and a large central aquamarine gem stone together some eye-catching gold, diamond and enamel Fabergé cufflinks. Both are expected to sell for thousands.

“Inevitably, high quality makes such as Fabergé and Cartier are highly sought after and if the item has its original box all the better.

“Designer watches are also in demand – prestigious brands such as Rolex, Jaeger Le Coultre, Vacheron Constantin De Bethune, Breitling, IWC and Harry Winston. To give you some idea of what can be achieved, an IWC gold Portugieser perpetual calendar wristwatch made £12,000.

“When it comes to fine silver, demand is rising for Eastern silver. That’s because wealthy Chinese and Indian people are keen to buy back their heritage, a fact which is increasing auction prices.”

In a recent Hansons’ sale, an Indian silver, heavily embossed three-piece tea set, purchased in 1946, sold for £520. Period silver was also popular with a William IV silver ink stand selling for £720.

Jewellery highlights included a Georgian rose cut diamond and amethyst ring inscribed ‘Hannah Handley, July 1740, Oct 66’, offered together with an 18ct gold triple-diamond ring, which sold for £1,200. Plus, a Victorian garnet and diamond dagger brooch made £330.

Kate Bliss will be at Hansons Auctioneers, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire, on August 2, 10am-4pm. No appointment necessary.

Jewellery and watches can also be valued for free at Hansons by eminent UK expert David Byrne every Tuesday, 9.30am-4.30pm. Plus, head of jewellery Helen Smith offers free valuations every Friday, 10am-4pm. To find out more, email [email protected] or call 01283 733988.
