Action replay! Sports memorabilia expert heading back to Nottinghamshire after ‘phenomenal’ reaction from sports fans

 |  By andy

A football memorabilia expert was so overwhelmed by the response he received from sports fans in Nottinghamshire at a free valuation event he is heading back to the county.

Alistair Lofley, sports valuer for Hansons Auctioneers, said: “There is an incredible sporting heritage in Nottinghamshire, which I tapped into when I was here in July. The response was phenomenal. Sports fans came out in force to see me.

“There are thousands of dedicated football supporters in the county and plenty of teams to back including Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Mansfield Town, not to mention the county’s cricketing heritage. I decided it was time for an action replay.”

Alistair will join fellow Hansons experts at a free valuation event at Trowell Garden Centre, Stapleford Road, Trowell, on Wednesday, August 29, from 11am-2pm.

As well as having people on hand to assess general antiques, jewellery or watches, Alistair can value old programmes, matchday tickets, match-worn shirts, autographs or general memorabilia relating to any type of sport.

But be warned, whether you back the Reds or Magpies, if you have thrown away hundreds of programmes you may be left kicking yourself when you discover just how much some of them are worth today.

For example, in 2013, a programme from the 1882 FA Cup final sold at auction for £35,250 and at Hansons this year a 1924 Aston Villa v Newcastle FA Cup final programme was contested to £2,100.

Items can be consigned to the November 20 Sporting Memorabilia Auction at Hansons Auctioneers, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire.

Alistair and general valuers will be at Trowell Garden Centre, Stapleford Road, Trowell, Nottinghamshire, NG9 3TG, on Wednesday, August 29, 11am-2pm.
