Revving Up History: Single Owner Collection of Model Trains, Vintage Toys & Classic Motorbikes

An upcoming sale featuring an extraordinary private collection of model trains, boats, vintage toys, and classic motorbikes, set for Thursday 20th February 2025, at Hansons Derbyshire saleroom, promises to captivate collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The collection, built up over 50 years, includes a wealth of prestigious pieces that span several eras. The owner’s passion for his collection is evident, with many items carefully displayed and even operational in his private train layout. This is a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire high-quality, carefully curated items in excellent condition, including steam-powered boats, vintage toys, and classic motorbikes.

Auction Highlights

  • Model Trains: The auction will feature a superb selection of O gauge trains from prestigious makers such as Lionel, MTH, and ACE. These are complemented by a large collection of steam-powered boats, including military warships from renowned makers such as Bowman. The boats include many pre-war models as well as examples from the 1950s onwards, offering a diverse range for maritime model collectors.
  • Vintage Toys: For toy enthusiasts, the sale includes rare 1940s Meccano sets, Mamod steam tractors, and military toys from Astra and Nulli Secundus. These vintage pieces are highly sought after by collectors for their quality and nostalgic appeal.
