A Treasure Trove of Modern British Art and Antiques: Upcoming Auction at Hansons Penshurst, Kent

A truly remarkable private collection of Modern British art, along with an exceptional array of fine jewellery, silver, and antiques, is set to be auctioned at Hansons Penshurst, Kent, on the 27th of February. This collection, sourced from a local deceased estate, has been carefully curated over the last 40+ years and represents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire works by some of the most renowned British artists of the 20th century.

Spanning more than 60 lots, the auction showcases an impressive selection of pieces from Modern British artists such as Keith Vaughan, John Banting, Roger Hilton, Fred Hall, and others. These artists, many of whom were based in Kent and Sussex, were key figures in the development of British art during the post-war period. Their works, which explore a range of styles from abstraction to figurative art, continue to have a lasting impact on the British art scene today.

“This collection is a real testament to the lasting legacy of Modern British art and its connection to the South East of England,” says Justin Matthews, Senior Valuer and Regional Director of Hansons Penshurst. “The works on offer here span over several decades and provide an insightful snapshot into the artistic development of some of the country’s finest artists.
