5 great buys at Bishton Country House Furniture Auction

 |  By andy

Beat the January blues this weekend and join us at Bishton Hall in Staffordshire for our Country House Furniture Auction on Saturday, January 26.

The auction starts at 11am, with viewing from 9am, and we have 250 lots to entice you. These include more than 70 items of furniture plus a variety of other quirky collectables. Some items are from Bishton Hall.

Here, we pick out a few objects which have caught our eye:

Touch of movie nostalgia

Lot 5: Bring some movie magic into your home thanks to a pair of mid 20th century large cinematography spot lamps, above, with tripod stand bearing Pinewood Studios labels. Could they have played a part in your favourite Carry On movie? Estimate £250-£300.

File your papers in vintage style

Lot 56: This early 20th Century oak tambour, front filing cabinet, below right, would be a wonderfully stylish vintage addition to any home. Would Drew Pritchard like it? We think so. Estimate £40-£60.

Need more storage?

Lot 53: This early Victorian linen press, above left, has a cavernous interior to hide away your belongings in antique style. Linen presses are gaining in popularity. Estimate £100-£200.

Something for book lovers

Lot 52: This early 19th century, Gothic style, glazed secretaire bookcase, below right, has ample space for the most ardent books fan. Why go for flatpack furniture when you could buy something like this? Estimate £400-£600.

Classic good looks

Lot 25 : This George III, mahogany, bow-fronted chest of drawers, above left, would bring some classic style to a corner of your home. Estimate £60-£100.

This is the tip of the iceberg and there are some great bargains to be had. Click here to view our catalogue.
