French pottery perfection – couple’s vast Quimper collection set to go to auction

 |  By andy

If French Faience pottery takes your fancy, Steve Toogood
and wife Lynn are offering fans the chance to buy pieces collected over the course of 30 years.

The couple are selling their vast collection of French
Faience at Hansons in February 2019 – and it’s something special.

Steve, 66,
and Lynn, 54, from Nettleham in Lincoln, have been gathering Quimper, (pronounced kim-pear) pieces for three decades.

But now the pair have
decided the time has come to see how much they fetch at auction to go towards
funding their next big adventure.

Their two
children have recently jetted out to live in Australia and they are going to
join them.

Lynn said:
“We’re taking the brave step of trying a new life Down Under and this means we
can’t take everything with us.

“Our
son is a surfer and my daughter lives there too, so we thought we’d go for it.

“We
picked up lots of our items from French antique markets and auctions over the
years, we’ve amassed quite a lot of it!

Husband
Steve said: “Our cottage is looking a little bare, now we’ve brought it all
in.”

Charles
(Hanson) came to their home to take a closer look at the ceramics collection as
it was so vast before consigning it to auction

Lynn added:
“Certain things with sentimental value we are keeping – I just cannot part with
some little ones.”

The Quimper
pottery is due to be sold at Hansons Auctioneers, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire, on Friday 15. To find out more, email [email protected]
