Wines, Whisky & Spirits

What’s gathering dust in your cellar or old drinks cabinet? Fine wine, whisky and spirits are a booming auction market. And they are in hot demand under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers’ Wine & Whisky Cellar Auctions.

Rare drinks are soaring in value with a worldwide army of buyers keen to build collections. In unstable economic times, investors prefer tangible assets.

Consequently, the market has witnessed a huge surge in demand, notably from China. Overall, the sector has witnessed 70% growth in five years.

Rare Drinks In Demand

Whether you own a single bottle of whisky or an entire cellar, we can help. Hansons’ professional valuation and sales service can help maximise your assets.

Our Wine and Whisky Department specialises in fine wine, champagne, port, whisky, Madeira, cognac and more. From popular brands to forgotten producers, spirits and wines are in demand.

Plus, our results demonstrate auction success. For example, the sale of a cellar of port from a stately home and a single-owner collection of whisky totalled £27,000.

Whisky Brings Auction Cheer

Whisky is a major growth area. A special addition bottle of The Macallan whisky, made to mark the 35th anniversary of satirical magazine Private Eye, made £3,100 at Hansons. Plus, an 18-year-old bottle of The Macallan fetched £2,200.

Such is the demand for rare whisky, in 2019, a bottle of The Macallan Fine & Rare 60-Year-Old 1926 whisky sold for $1.9 million – around £1.5 million.

Buyers want to buy everything from red wine and rare whisky to drinks with exotic appeal. So, for example, Chartreuse, famously made from 130 herbs, plants and flowers, is sought after.

Take advantage of this buoyant market and consign items into Hansons Whisky, Wine & Spirit Auctions.
