An astonishing private collection of gold proof coins – some extremely rare – will go to auction on Thursday, October 17.
Some 41 lots are set to under the hammer at Hansons in Heage Lane, Etwall, and such is the quality our coins expert William Hayward says they could potentially sell for in excess of £200,000.
Gold prices are flying high right now. When there is economic instability, as is so often the case, many investors choose to plough their money into gold.
The coins include a 2019 Queen Victoria 200th anniversary 24 carat gold proof £50 coin, only 20 of which were minted. There is also a coin bearing the date ‘03.09.1939’ to mark the 80th anniversary of the King’s Speech.
