Bargains all sewn up! Haberdashery Auction is a dressmaker’s dream

If you love to sew, make and mend a dream auction is coming up packed with bargains galore.

Due to a business closure, Hansons Auctioneers is offering 175 eclectic lots in a Haberdashery Auction on March 20.

The bargain bonanza includes major quantities of cloth, zips, cords, artificial flowers, thimbles, bags, purses, scarves and more.

Bidders can buy in bulk with large quantities of material up for grabs. For example, 20 rolls of fabric are being guided at £100-150. Boost your craft room stores with everything from cotton and felt to stretch jersey.

Numerous lots brim with multiple rolls of fabric and all the prices are inviting. For example, you can bid on eight rolls of coloured felt, £40-£60, or a large collection of double knitting wool in various colours, £60-£80.

Artificial flowers abound in the sale such as eight boxes of artificial fabric posies, £40-£60; five large boxes of mixed artificial flowers and garlands, £40-£60; or six small boxes of mixed artificial flowers, £20-£30.

Some offerings starts from as little as £5 including lot 126, a collection of hair nets, measuring tapes, thimbles, magnet pin holders, boxes of un-pickers, bags of cord elastic, cotton cord in various colours, flower buttons in various colours, bells and room decoration stickers.

Another bargain for sewing enthusiasts is lot 138, zips galore in various colours, £20-£30. Meanwhile lot 163 is awash with children’s bags, fans, purses and evening bags, £30-£40.

The diverse offerings include  lot 170, a huge collection of scarves in various colours and patterns along with a quantity of bags, £40-£60, and  lot 175, a large array of Chinese items including decorations, cat key rings, umbrellas, pouches and pom pom keyrings, £20-£30.

Hansons said: “We have never held an auction like this before. This is a rare opportunity to buy in bulk and grab a haberdashery bargain or, perhaps, items to sell yourself. There are bargains galore to be had and we hope keen seamstresses, makers or, perhaps, small businesses far and wide will take advantage of the opportunity.”
