A TV show filmed in Derbyshire to raise money for BBC Children in Need will be aired on the day people across the nation join forces to support the much-loved charity cause.
On Friday November 15 a BBC Bargain Hunt Special filmed at Hansons Auctioneers in Heage Lane, Etwall, will be broadcast on BBC1 at 12.15pm and, according to Charles Hanson, there’s plenty of fun in store.
He said: “The Bargain Hunt TV team brought along some wonderful celebrity contestants to do battle in the blue and red teams. I was master of ceremonies on the rostrum and all profits from their antique buys go to BBC Children in Need.
“It was a magical, fun-packed day for a hugely important cause and I’m so glad Hansons could play its part. The charity is close to our hearts. I can’t give too much away but suffice to say I was very proud of what we all achieved by working together.
“Last year Bargain Hunt raised more than £12,000 for BBC Children in Need. Tune in to find out if that target was smashed with a little help from the good people of Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.”
A packed saleroom watched the auction drama unfold. Hansons welcomed hundreds of guests from all over the country as well as many people from its home patch and arranged a marquee and refreshments for VIP guests.
“The atmosphere was amazing,” said Charles. “I can’t wait to relive the day when the show’s aired on TV.”
During the filming in September, Natasha Raskin Sharp was joined by antiques experts Tim Weeks and Thomas Forrester to host the episode. Comedian Joe Pasquale and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin were in the red team. Their opponents in the blue team were former Strictly star and magician’s assistant Debbie McGee and Sooty and Sweep puppeteer Richard Cadell.
Comedian Joe Pasquale said: “Over the years I’ve been asked to do a few things for BBC Children in Need… so to be able to combine doing something again this year with one of my favourite antique shows … I jumped at the chance!”
BBC Radio Berkshire presenter Debbie McGee said: ‘‘BBC Children in Need is so important and, as I have always loved Bargain Hunt, it was the perfect way to get involved.”

The Bargain Hunt Special will air on November 15, at 12.15pm on BBC1 ahead of the BBC Children in Need Appeal on the same day.
