Derby’s train-making heritage emerges in many ways including remarkable model railway finds.
Toy valuer Steve Fulford was blown away by a rare 1930s, Hornby, 20 volt electric Flying Scotsman ‘0’ gauge E320 set in fantastic, hardly-used condition. Model train enthusiasts generally look after their treasures well too. In splendid green livery, it is coming up to 90 years old. It’s been valued at £2,000-£3,000.
Model train sets are hugely popular among collectors, so much so we occasionally devote entire auctions to single-owner collections. This gem will enter Hansons’ December Toy, Live Steam and Video Game Auction and could be snapped up in time to go under the Christmas tree.
Toy entries are invited until November 13.
