One of the nation’s best known antiques experts – Eric Knowles – is heading to Oxfordshire to hunt out valuable heirlooms and historical treasures.
Eric, a favourite on antiques-inspired TV shows for decades including Antiques Roadshow and Bargain Hunt, will be at the Hanson Holloway’s Ross auction saleroom, Banbury, on November 23, from 10am-4pm. He will be on hand to assess antiques and collectables by appointment and the event is free.
Eric, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and published author on Victoriana and Royal memorabilia, specialises in ceramics, glassware and 20th century decorative arts. In addition he has a broad general knowledge of antiques and collectables and is excited to see what people will bring along.
He said: “I can’t wait to come to Oxfordshire. I am sure there are many wonderful heirlooms and antiques waiting to be uncovered. I’m looking forward to helping people find out what their items are worth.”
Charles Hanson, owner of Hanson Holloway’s Ross, said: “Eric is a legend in the world of antiques and my own personal hero. I’m delighted to say he has joined Hansons as a consultant valuer to assist our clients and it’s a privilege to work alongside him.
“He has an academic and passionate knowledge accrued over decades. This is a rare opportunity to meet him and potentially enjoy your own Antiques Roadshow-style moment. Items can be consigned into auction on the day.
“If you have something at home you’ve always wanted to learn more about, do bring it to show Eric. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and discovering forgotten treasures that celebrate history and heritage.”
