Antique fascination shines bright and experts renowned for their knowledge are hosting free events at Hansons’ UK-wide salerooms this autumn.
Adam Schoon, Eric Knowles, Kate Bliss and Steph Connell, well known faces from the world of antiques, will be offering assessments. All have appeared on some of Britain’s best-loved TV shows such as Bargain Hunt. Adam and Eric have both shared their expertise on Antiques Roadshow.
Eric Knowles, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and published author on Victoriana, Royal memorabilia, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and René Lalique, specialises in ceramics, glassware and 20th century decorative arts. He also has a broad general knowledge of antiques and collectables.
Adam Schoon, a Fine Art consultant for more than 40 years and member of The Oriental Ceramic Society of London, can assess all type of antiques but has particular knowledge of Chinese and Japanese works of art and ceramics.
Kate Bliss, a fellow of the Great Britain Gemmological Association, is an expert on jewellery, silver and gold including antique, vintage and costume jewellery.
Stephanie Connell is a recognised expert in entertainment memorabilia and has more than 15 years’ experience in antiques and collectors items.
Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons, said: “It’s a privilege to work with people of such high calibre and to bring their talents to our salerooms – and our clients. These events provide important opportunities for people to seek advice from respected consultants they have come to know through their TV work.
“All are renowned in the world of antiques with an academic and passionate knowledge of their specialist subjects accrued over decades. This is a rare opportunity for people to meet them and potentially enjoy their own jaw-dropping Antiques Roadshow-style moment.
“If you have an item at home you’ve always wanted to learn more about and wondered how valuable it might be, do bring it along to one of the free valuation events. Consultants love to share their knowledge and discover forgotten treasures that celebrate the world’s history and heritage.”
