A breathtakingly ornate necklace, heavy with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, is set for auction.
Hansons’ Head of Jewellery Helen Smith said: “It’s so ornate and eye-catching it’s truly worthy of an Indian bride. It’s awash with beautiful large precious stones which together weigh than 116 carats.
“It’s rare for something as spectacular as this to be offered at auction. It comes with a matching pair of earrings. I would love to see this set adorn the neck of a bride on her wedding day.”
The Moghul-style Indian stone set 18ct gold and silver necklace boasts a total emerald weight of 54.04 carats, a total diamond weight of 37.29 (colour G-I, clarity VS2-SI2) and a total ruby weight of 25.79carats.
It shimmers with 23 pear-shaped carved emeralds graduating in size. The largest is set to the front and each emerald claw is set within a double row, leaf-shaped border of small grain set diamonds. Each leaf is suspended from a rose cut diamond motif with rose cut ruby terminal.
It also boasts 16 rose cut rubies, each within a round brilliant cut diamond set border, with flower motifs of pear-shaped rose cut diamonds, with rose cut ruby centres, suspended from a diamond set circular link chain. The chain also suspends an emerald, ruby and diamond leaf motif.
The Moghul-style Indian stone set 18ct gold and silver necklace and earrings set, estimate £17,000-£20,000, will be offered in Hansons’ October 6 Fine Art Auction.
