Vintage clothing and textiles are in demand at auction as followers of fashion appreciate the style and quality of the past.
Vintage clothing consultant Virginia Ewart said: “The June fashion and textile sale at Hansons’ Staffordshire showroom Bishton Hall was a great success.
“For example, a 1950s novelty print dress by much loved British label Horrockses, pulled out of a suitcase in someone’s attic, realised £230 and a hand-embroidered linen bedspread, circa 1916, hammered at £250.
“Haberdashery items in particular caught the attention of buyers with a small collection of early 20th century metallic lace making £440 and a length of embroidered voile exceeding expectations to bring in £280.
“Despite the June sun we also realised some record prices on luxury fur coats with a 1970s Canadian Lynx reaching £380 and 1960s Leopard coat making £850.
“We are currently sourcing consignments for the August and September specialist sales and are on the look out for always popular labels like Ossie Clark, Thea Porter and Biba as well Antique fashions and luxury clothing and accessories.
