Car fans urged to make Bishton Hall their new motoring Mecca

 |  By Kendal Cooper

A venue aiming to become a Mecca for car enthusiasts is urging people to take advantage of all it has to offer.

Bishton Hall, a Georgian property at Wolseley Bridge, Staffordshire, is reaching out to car and motorcycle clubs in a push to become the go-to venue to celebrate transport in all its forms.

Bishton, owned by Hansons Auctioneers, offers ample grounds to park set against a backdrop of an atmospheric country mansion built in circa 1750.

It already hosts monthly Bring Your Thing events,  a chance for owners of classic cars, motorbikes or vehicles of any type to meet up and share their passion. In addition, some car owners’ clubs have used Bishton.

Now the venue wants to take things a step further, led by Hanson Classic manager and lifelong car enthusiast Leo Bestwick-Meynell. He said: “We want to make Bishton Hall a Mecca for car enthusiasts, a place they can come to see classic cars and bikes, chat to fellow motors fans and show off their vehicles.

“The great British love affair with cars and motorbikes will always shine bright. Bishton is a magnificent venue and the dream is to make it a go-to place for car clubs and motoring festivals, a venue to celebrate transport in all its forms. Its grounds offer space to display vehicles in a grand setting.

“Bishton is also home to Hansons’ Staffordshire auction saleroom and hosts regular classic car auctions. We want these to become a celebration of motoring. Viewing events will enable car enthusiasts to browse and enjoy the spectacle.”

Hansons’ March 2023 Classic Car sale attracted a splendid array of vehicles. Among them was a beautifully restored 1963 MGA, above, which achieved £15,000 under the hammer, an exceptional 1933 Austin 7,  £5,000, and a 1973 Rolls Royce Shadow, £4,800.

More sales are planned with a focus on pre-1999 cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles. Cars are already coming in for its September 2 sale including a 1988 Golf Clipper cabriolet in red. It’s had the same owner for many more than 20 years and will be guided at £3,000-£3,500.

Bring Your Thing events will be held at Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge, Staffs, ST17 0XN, on July  16, August 20 and September 24,  10am-1pm. To find out more, or to enquire about booking a motors-related event at Bishton, email [email protected] or call 07947 782606.
