Oriental riches abound in Hansons’ May 31 Fine Art sale at Staffordshire auction venue Bishton Hall. Here, consultant valuer Kim Wood shines the spotlight on some of the Chinese star lots set to go under the hammer.

Qing Dynasty vase

A Chinese flambe-glazed fluted ovoid vase , Qing Dynasty , probably 18th century. £150-£250

Flambe-glazed ceramics

Chinese flambe-glazed panelled vase, Qing Dynasty 18/19th Century, with flat-sided dragon shoulder handles with fawn, Ox blood and lavender-toned glaze. Plus another 19th Century vase with elephant-mask shoulder handles and red and brown streaked glaze. £150-£250

Eight immortals bowl

A Chinese iron red and underglaze blue-decorated Eight immortals bowl, Kangxi six character mark in under glaze blue but probably early 19th century. Internally centred by a solitary figure of Shaulao. The external figures against a repeat wave pattern. £200-£300

Jardinière on stands

A pair of Chinese famille rose porcelain small table jardinière on stands, Republic period, each flared vessel painted with panels of songbirds  and sprigs on stands with indented angles. £150-£250

Qianlong dish

Chinese coral ground export porcelain dish, Qianlong period circa 1740/50 with five reserves gilded with peonies on a gilt lotus ground. £300-£500

Qing Dynasty lama

Chinese famille verte porcelain model of a meditating lama, Qing Dynasty,19th century, seated and wearing a lama’s crown. £150-£250

Chinese famille verte biscuit fired Fo Dog vase with incised six character marks of Kangxi but later. £150-£250

Lotus vase

Chinese yellow ground porcelain lotus vase, Qing Dynasty, 18/19th century, with a blue collar of repeat Ruyi heads with delicate scrolling lotus tendrils in several tones of green with two wood-grain over panels. £200-£400
