The Horrockses label is a firm favourite among vintage fashion collectors, particularly those who favour 1950s styles.
The Horrockses story began in 1791 as a Preston based textile company formed by John Horrocks who started out spinning cotton yarn and went on to build a cotton mill in the same year. Throughout the 19th century the company continued to grow and prosper under the name Horrockses, Crewdson & Co but it isn’t until after the second world war that the cloth manufacturers also became makers of ready to wear fashions.
In 1946 the first collection from Horrockses Fashions became available to retailers and the label quickly took off thanks to the quality of both cloth and design with Horrockses employing known artists and textile designers to create their prints.

With an estimate of £50-£80 its your chance to grab little piece of fashion history and a label favoured by Queen Elizabeth II who packed a number of Horrockses dresses for her Commonwealth tour in 1953.
