The top 10 lots in Hansons ‘sell-out’ Medals and Militaria Auction including sword used in TV’s Sharpe

Hansons’ August 2020 Medals, Militaria and Firearms Auction was a sell-out success. Every single lot sold which is known as a white glove sale in the auction world. Our militaria department is led by Adrian Stevenson, a collector himself and one of the country’s foremost experts in this field of expertise. Here, we list the top 10 lots which attracted bids from across the world.

1. Lot 292 – Flintlock pistol with 230mm long barrel – Sold for £1,450

2. Lot 97 – Napoleonic French An XIII Cuirassier Heavy Cavalry Sword, the blade marked ‘AP” for Atelier de précision – Sold for £1,300

3. Lot 123 – WW1 British personal diaries: a pair of diaries belonging to two different artillerymen, whom it is believed are related. – Sold for £1,050

4. Lot 1 – Naval General Service Medal with Egypt clasp. Impressed with name “George Brown”. – Sold for £850

5. Lot 183 – A good quality jeweller-made reproduction WW2 Third Reich Field Marshal’s Baton (Marschallstab) for Luftwaffe Generalfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring – Sold for £700

7) Lot 212 – WW2 Third Reich Luftwaffe Log Book and archive of General Major Karl-Henning Von Barsewisch. This archive includes: Flugbuch/Flying log book, covering the period 11th October 1940 to 26th January 1942. A large variation of aircraft flown DO17, FW190, JU52, etc. – Sold for £700

8. Lot 230 – WW2 Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officers Dagger. – Sold for £700

9. Lot 234 – Reproduction Napoleonic British Heavy Cavalry Sword 1796 pattern which was used in the filming of the TV series Sharpe, starring Sean Bean – Sold for £640

10. Lot 297 – Flintlock Musket with 66cm long octagonal barrel. – Sold for £620
