If you’re proud of your British heritage this iconic red telephone kiosk could be the perfect item to dial up nostalgia.
The K6 kiosk, an iconic cultural symbol of British life, is set for auction with a guide price of £3,000-£3,500. The K6 was introduced in 1936 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V, hence it is known as the ‘Jubilee Kiosk’. The design is the brainchild of British architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (1880-1960).
In July a similar vintage red public telephone box from a garden in Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire, achieved £3,000 at Hansons.
The K6 telephone box, lot 2395, will be offered on September 26 in Hansons Auctioneers’ September 22-26 Antiques and Collectors Auction. Catalogue: www.hansonslive.co.uk. The kiosk is sited in Nottingham and the successful bidder will need to arrange removal.
